Three Rivers White Water Rendez-vous

Each May long weekend, the twinkling surface of Castle River is dappled with the bright reds, blues and yellows of kayaks and playboats. The paddlers converge on the Castle to celebrate the sun's attack on the snowpack impaled by winter storms on the peaks of the Continental Divide.

The mostly young paddlers, chaperoned by a contingent of adult organizers and parents, range from competitive racers to novices, with a choice of experiences from raging canyons for experts to placid lakes for learners.

Organized by the local Pinch-o-Crow Creekers Kayak Club, the Three Rivers White Water Rendez-vous registers more than 250 participants for organized excursions on the Castle, the Crowsnest, the Oldman and tributary streams. The enthusiasts stay at the Castle River Rodeo Campground, located just east of the Highway 507 bridge over the Castle River.
